4 December 2006 is the tentative trial date scheduled for Basi, Virk and Basi

.
In an e-mail letter dated 2 Oct. 2006, Mr Stan Lowe from the B.C. Attorney General's office answered my question as follows:

I have received for reply your e-mail of September 21, 2006 to the Honourable Wally Oppal, Attorney General, in which you request the trial date scheduled for Dave Basi, Bob Virk and Aneal Basi.

20 October 2006 is the tentative pre-trial conference date. A pre-trial conference is when the court requires the parties to attend at a conference to discuss issues prior to commencement of the trial.

The trial date is tentatively set for December 4, 2006.

Thank you for writing.

"Stan Lowe"
Crown Counsel
Criminal Justice Branch.

Two more questions were sent:

* where are the conference and the trial to be held, Victoria or Vancouver?
Answer just received: conference and trial to be held in VANCOUVER.

* when and where is the A.L.R. trial for Basi, Duncan, Young expected to be?
Answer just received: A.L.R. trial scheduled for VICTORIA but no date yet.

Remember CanWest not reporting on the Ravinder Dosanjh trial? Well ... only 5 days after the event ... 5 days later! ... they wrote up the story! No kidding. DPL, a worthy Citizen Journalist, has brought it to our attention in the Comments section. Interesting, eh? Why did Times Colonist wait? Why did they feel they had to print after all, despite an embarrassingly lengthy delay?

Comments:
There is a date for the next session in the Basi case?

Strange because the computer at the Victoria Court House only lists the last one in September.

And there are two entires for Dave Basi: one is under the name "Dave Basi" and the other under "Udhe Basi".

Under the "Dave Basi" listing it says that access is restrcited and one must contact the Court Registry staff; and under the "Udhe Basi" listing it just lists that there was a court appearance in September.

There was no listing under Ravinder Dosanjh, by the way.

This database could obviously use some improvements.

Why doesn't this surprise me? I'm not entirely the dimmest bulb in the galaxy and the system had me stumbling from one blunder to another.

That's why I e.mailed Stan Lowe in the Attorney General's office. Lowe was recommended by a friend who had contacted him previously; he was helpful and the dates he gave her, were accurate.

So I'd bet on his 20 October date for the next Hearing for Dave (Udhe) Basi ... and 4 December date for the big trial ... unless we hear differently in the meantime.

But I can't imagine why Basi should have two listings. Or why one would be restricted. Betcha if you do contact the Court Registry staff, they'll say that the information can't be given over the telephone and you must go to the Public Access Computers in the court house for that.

However ... the Reasons for Judgment for Ravinder Dosanjh's trial should be coming up soon, eh?

It's great to have your information ... many thanks!

What happened to the december 4 trial ? no media talk of adjournment or a peep about the trial whatsoever. Swept under carpet. Smokescreen coverup read abot it at wcbcanada.com story of terry and his uncovering of basi real bad deeds.
